    Entry requirements

    There are no entry requirements for this qualification, however it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

  • Nebosh International Oil & Gas Certificate

    Entry requirements

    There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but we do recommend that learners have an underpinning knowledge of safety issues. This may have been achieved by studying a NEBOSH General Certificate level qualification. It is also important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

    Course Objective

    This course is aimed primarily at Managers, Supervisors and Health and Safety Advisers with safety responsibilities in the Oil and Gas industry. The qualification focuses on operational process safety and is intended to enable learners to apply and implement effective process safety management across all areas of their operation, anywhere in the world. This qualification provides the underpinning knowledge, which when combined with experience enables holders to identify, evaluate and control a wide range of workplaces hazards. It is based around international standards and management systems that enable the effective discharge of workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore. Globally, employers in the Oil and Gas industries find that the International Oil and Gas Certificate can improve the safety culture of their organisation by providing line management and staff with a sound understanding of operational safety management. The NEBOSH Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety covers one main unit (IOG1) entitled ‘Management of International Oil and Gas Operational Safety’.
    The key topics covered by the qualification are:

    • Hazards inherent in the extraction, storage and processing of raw materials and products
    • Hydrocarbon process safety

    NEBOSH does not set specific formal entry requirements for this qualification.

    IOG1 - An invigilated paper based exam (11 Questions).

  • Nebosh - HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management

    Entry requirements

    There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but’ it is recommended that learners should already have an underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues, and many will have gained another NEBOSH qualification. It is also important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

    Course Objective

    NEBOSH has collaborated with Great Britain’s Health and Safety Regulator, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), to develop the NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management. This process safety management qualification is the result of the unique collaboration which combines the advanced technical ‘high hazard’ expertise of HSE with NEBOSH’s ability to deliver strong vocational OSH qualifications. This qualification is designed to equip delegates with a broad understanding of the accepted principles and recognised industrial practices for the management of process risk. This will ensure that they can recognise and contribute to the control of process safety hazards. The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management is designed to cover a range of issues affecting process industries.
    Key topics covered by this qualification include:

    • Establishment of process management systems
    • Asset management and maintenance strategies
    • Safe start-up and shutdown of process plant
    • Performance standards for safety critical systems and equipment
    • Hazards and controls for:
      • Chemical reactions
      • Bulk storage of dangerous substances
      • Fire and explosion
    • Purpose and features of emergency plans

    This unit is divided into the following four key elements:

    • E1 - Process safety leadership
    • E2 - Management of process risk
    • E3 - Process safety hazard control
    • E4 - Fire and explosion protection

    How is it assessed?

    PSM1 - Is a multiple-choice question assessment paper (40 questions). This assessment is now be completed online, it is a Multiple Choice Question Assessment.

  • Nebosh HSE Certificate in Health and Safety Leadership Excellence

    There are no specific entry requirements but it is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

    HSL1 - Is an assessment using reflective statements around the course modules and including an "action plan - intervention" plan to help to improve Health and Safety within the workplace. This assessment is now be completed online, it is a Multiple Choice Question Assessment.

  • Nebosh HSE Introduction to Incident Ingestion

NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

    NEBOSH and Great Britain’s Health and Safety Regulator, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), have jointly developed a new one day qualification that shows how non-complex incidents can be investigated effectively. By learning lessons and making improvements, organisations can avoid similar incidents occurring in the future. This qualification is for anyone who wants to carry out incident investigations effectively. Employers, Supervisors, HSE Champions, Union and Health and Safety Representatives will benefit.
    Attending the course will enable you to:

    • Independently investigate simple incidents
    • Gather evidence including conducting witness interviews
    • Produce an action plan to prevent a recurrence of an incident
    • Contribute to team investigations for large scale incidents

    Inc Inv 1 - The assessment uses video case studies which the learners have to evaluate and identify both positive and negative aspects of the investigation interviews used in the case studies.

    Course Objective

    The NEBOSH Environmental Awareness at Work Qualification provides a useful introduction to environmental issues at work. It highlights the role workers can play in improving organisational environmental performance and will aid understanding of environmental impacts and risk control. It meets the training requirement for organisations implementing ISO 14001. The course is one day in length. The course covers basic environmental awareness and practices essential in the workplace.
    Topics include:

    • The meanings of basic environmental terms
    • Importance and benefits of sustainable development
    • The individual's role in a certified Environmental Management System (EMS)
    • Air, Water and Land pollution
    • Dealing with emergencies

    The syllabus is mapped to environmental awareness and management requirements published by LANTRA (One of the leading awarding bodies for land-based industries in both the UK and the Republic of Ireland).
